Welcome to Tumalock Escrow’s Terms and Conditions. These terms govern your use of Tumalock services. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
The name Tumalock is derived from two words:
“Tuma” – a Swahili word meaning “to send”, representing the seller delivering purchased items.
“Lock” – symbolizing the buyer depositing money into a Tumalock trust account to hold the funds securely until delivery is confirmed.

Tumalock Escrow holds money deposited by the buyer while purchased goods are being delivered by the seller. The seller cannot access the funds until goods are confirmed delivered. This process protects both parties from common online scams.
Tumalock charges a small service fee for each transaction. Fees range from Ksh 10 for items worth up to Ksh 100 and up to Ksh 1,000 for items worth Ksh 249,000. For larger purchases, multiple deposits or bank payment arrangements may apply.
To use Tumalock Escrow you must register with your real full name, a valid Kenyan mobile number (Safaricom, Airtel or Telkom), and a working email address. Each phone number may be linked to only one Tumalock account.
Before you can lock, receive or unlock funds you must complete SMS One-Time-Password (OTP) verification of the phone number you registered. Unverified accounts cannot participate in escrow transactions as either buyer or seller. Providing false or incomplete information, registering another person’s phone number without their consent, or using another user’s email address may lead to immediate account suspension and, where warranted, referral to law enforcement.
Tumalock reserves the right to suspend any account it reasonably believes has been used for fraud, impersonation, harassment, sharing of One-Time-Passwords, or any breach of these Terms. While an account is suspended the user cannot create new transactions, receive escrow funds, or unlock funds. Escrow funds already held for an existing transaction are not automatically cancelled or refunded on suspension; they remain held pending review or dispute resolution.

Changes to a user’s verified phone number or email, and any administrative suspension or reinstatement, require an authorization code sent via SMS to the requesting Tumalock administrator. This measure ensures that no single actor — whether internal or external — can silently alter an account’s identity or access.
In case of disputes, Tumalock provides a structured resolution mechanism. Both parties may be required to deposit a conflict fee ranging from Ksh 100 to Ksh 1,000. The resolution committee will mediate fairly; unresolved issues may be referred to a court of law.
Tumalock strictly prohibits transactions involving illegal or unethical goods and services such as firearms, narcotics, counterfeit items, stolen goods, or human trafficking. Any user found engaging in such activities will face immediate account termination and legal action.
Tumalock Escrow shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use our services. Users are fully responsible for ensuring the accuracy of their transaction details.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the Laws of Kenya. Any legal proceedings shall be conducted within Kenyan jurisdiction.
